Description
NASA's Johnson Space Center is conducting market research for a limited-scope, multi-year evaluation program involving a small number of modern high-performance jet aircraft to support astronaut spaceflight readiness training. The effort is intended to assess aircraft suitability, operational characteristics and safety margins, curriculum integration, human factors, maintenance concepts, mission-capable rates, supply-chain considerations, lifecycle expectations, and overall fleet feasibility; it is not a full fleet purchase or replacement. Respondents may describe direct replacement, bridge, phased, or combined solutions involving existing, production, or near-production aircraft. Desired characteristics include reliable dual-seat, dual-control aircraft with self-starting engines, modern instrument-flight avionics, dynamic maneuvering, formation-flying and cross-country-navigation capability, and performance comparable to modern jet trainers or light fighters. Industry may propose aircraft provision through lease, lease-to-own, barter, or other arrangements, along with maintenance, spare parts, technical data and software access, training or simulator support, and recommended operating restrictions. Responses should include aircraft capabilities, sustainment concepts, availability and schedule, rough-order-of-magnitude costs, contracting models, relevant experience, certifications, facility clearances, flight-safety history, and customer references. A capability statement of no more than 15 pages in PDF format, excluding appendices, is requested; no proposal is being solicited.
