Description
The City of Fort Myers is requesting proposals from qualified firms to provide geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the new Fort Myers Police Department Headquarters project. This project involves approximately 8.5 acres of site development and includes three main structures: a 3-story, 122,000 SF Administrative, Forensic Evidence & Criminal Investigation building; an 18,000 SF Indoor Firing Range facility; and a 12,000 SF pre-engineered metal structure for rolling asset storage, along with a covered fueling area and tank farm. The selected consultant will be responsible for ensuring that construction materials and subsurface conditions meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards. Services will include reviewing geotechnical reports, deep-soil improvement submittals, construction documents, observing site preparation and earthwork, foundation quality control, dewatering effectiveness, performing field density and compaction testing, and providing on-site geotechnical consultation. Materials testing services will encompass concrete, asphalt, and structural materials, including sampling, testing, and reporting. The City has partnered with Parker Mudgett Smith Architects, Inc. and Architects Design Group for design services, and Wharton Smith, Inc. for construction management.
