Republic County Unified School District No. 109 (USD 109) is requesting proposals for the supply and installation of rubber playground mulch made from recycled tires for East Elementary playground. The project requires providing rubber mulch to achieve a depth of 6 inches over the existing playground surface to meet safe fall zone requirements. The mulch must be sourced from a recycled tire supplier. The district will handle unloading and distribution with a skid loader, but the contractor is expected to supply the mulch. The project is funded in part by a Waste Tire Management Grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). The grant amount awarded is $9,165, with a matching amount of $9,165, totaling $18,330 for the project.
