Description
The State of Montana, on behalf of the Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks, is soliciting a contractor to perform precommercial thinning, slashing, and hand piling of forest debris across nine treatment units totaling approximately 304.9 acres. Work includes felling qualifying live conifer trees, maintaining specified residual stocking and spacing, removing slash from roads, trails, streams, and wet areas, and piling or scattering slash according to site conditions and detailed specifications. The contractor must furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, materials, safety equipment, and incidentals. The work is subject to Montana forest-fire regulations, including spark-arresting equipment, fire extinguishers, firefighting tools, and operational restrictions. The stated operating periods are September 15, 2026, through May 15, 2027; September 15, 2027, through February 15, 2028; and other periods when snow conditions permit, with additional restrictions for Unit 43. A pre-work conference is required before operations begin.
