Description
The City of Kansas City, Missouri, Law Department is seeking a contractor to serve summonses and other legal process for collections, general litigation, condemnation cases, and related matters. The City handles approximately 3,500 new collections cases annually, many requiring alias summonses and repeated service attempts. The contractor must pick up service packets at least twice weekly, serve process in Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass Counties in Missouri and Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, and make at least three attempts on three separate days, including one evening attempt and one daytime attempt. The contractor must document service attempts through field notes, protect confidential legal information, provide electronic service returns within two business days and original returns within five business days, prepare separate monthly invoices for each Law Department unit, and respond to City inquiries within one business day. The opportunity has a one-year initial term with two annual renewal options. Required proposal materials include the City's authorized representative, cooperative procurement, contract review, business profile, experience, personnel, project approach, sustainability, employee eligibility, references, and pricing forms; the employee eligibility affidavit requires notarization and E-Verify documentation.
