Description
The National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways program is soliciting applications for competitive grants supporting outdoor recreation and natural, historical, and cultural tourism projects within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Eligible activities may include visitor-experience improvements, tourism and economic-development capacity building, heritage and recreational experiences, public-access and trail or water-trail connectivity, interpretation, accessibility improvements, and community or America250 events. Construction other than structural improvements, archaeology, land acquisition, building acquisition, endowments, alcohol purchases, and lobbying are ineligible. Two funding categories are available: Linking Tourism and Economic Impact Projects, with awards of $25,000 to $50,000, and Network/Community Events, including America250 events, with awards of $10,000 to $20,000. Applicants must be eligible public, private, nonprofit, educational, tribal, housing, or governmental entities and must be non-federal Chesapeake Gateways Network members or pursuing self-nomination as a Place or Experience. Applications must include the required federal forms, project abstract, detailed budget, project narrative, budget narrative, and applicable disclosures or property forms. The project narrative is limited to eight pages, using at least 11-point font and one-inch margins.
