Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is accepting applications for competitive Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund grants supporting land acquisition associated with approved and permitted Habitat Conservation Plans. Eligible projects may acquire habitat in fee simple or through permanent conservation easements to benefit federally listed, candidate, and at-risk species and must involve voluntary conservation efforts within the United States. Only state and territorial agencies with an applicable section 6(c) cooperative agreement and current annual reconfirmation are eligible to apply; counties and conservation organizations may participate as subgrantees through an eligible state agency. Applications must identify the proposed properties or acquisition areas, covered species, ownership interest, management commitments, conservation benefits, habitat connectivity, threats of conversion, project timetable, environmental-compliance information, and detailed budget. A minimum non-Federal cost share of 25 percent of total project cost is required, reduced to 10 percent for projects involving two or more states; the match is waived for grants awarded to certain U.S. territories. The maximum period of performance is three years.
