Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is soliciting applications for the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund: Recovery Land Acquisition Grant Program. Eligible state and territorial agencies with qualifying section 6(c) cooperative agreements may request funding to acquire specifically identified parcels through fee-simple purchase or conservation easements in support of the most recent FWS-approved recovery planning document for at least one federally listed species. Projects must address habitat loss, prioritize habitat protection, involve voluntary conservation within the United States, and include a commitment to manage acquired land in perpetuity. Counties and conservation organizations may participate as subgrantees through an eligible state agency. Applications must identify and describe each proposed parcel, explain the conservation need and expected species benefits, provide a project narrative, timetable, maps, environmental-compliance information, budget narrative, cost-share information, and applicable federal forms. A minimum non-Federal cost share of 25% of total project cost is required, reduced to 10% for projects involving two or more states; the match is waived for certain U.S. territories. The program anticipates 15 awards, with awards ranging from $10,000 to $14,162,000, and permits a maximum three-year period of performance.
