Description
The U.S. Geological Survey seeks a participating partner of the Rocky Mountain Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit to conduct collaborative research across grassland, shrubland, rangeland, and alpine ecosystems. Work includes developing habitat-selection and population-demography models for birds and ungulates, evaluating how land-use changes and other disturbances affect wildlife and habitat, and developing tools to assess chronic wasting disease risks and management scenarios. The research is intended to support conservation and natural-resource management decisions, including work on sage-grouse, songbirds, ungulates, and white-tailed ptarmigan. The selected recipient will work closely with USGS scientists, with research objectives refined collaboratively. The application must include a technical narrative, a three-year project budget and budget narrative, a data management plan, and specified application forms and disclosures. Research products may include analyses, models, digital data, reports, and peer-reviewed publications. The award is expected to fund one project, with estimated total funding of $490,000.
