Description
The City of Miami Beach Police Department is seeking approximately three trained dual-purpose police canines and one trained single-purpose narcotics-detection canine. Dual-purpose dogs must support patrol and detection functions, while the single-purpose canine must detect cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and MDMA/ecstasy. All canines must be healthy, environmentally stable, operationally suitable, appropriately trained, and accompanied by training, certification, veterinary, vaccination, and medical documentation. The City may conduct behavioral, veterinary, and operational acceptance evaluations before final acceptance. The vendor must demonstrate experience providing trained police canines to law-enforcement or municipal agencies and offer workshop-style training for handlers and K-9 teams at additional cost. The resulting agreement may be used for orders until $100,000 has been expended, with no guaranteed quantity or exclusive work. A written warranty covering canine health and operational suitability is required. The solicitation also requires insurance, including workers' compensation as applicable, commercial general liability of at least $300,000 per occurrence, and automobile liability of at least $300,000 per accident.
