Description
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs is seeking a Senior Law Enforcement Advisor under a personal services contract. Based at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, the advisor will regularly travel within Nigeria and may occasionally travel internationally to support program development, monitoring, and oversight. The advisor will oversee and coordinate law enforcement training and development projects; provide technical advice, mentoring, and subject-matter expertise to Nigerian law enforcement agencies; support police reform, quality management, accountability, policy development, and criminal justice-sector programming; coordinate with U.S. government and international donors; monitor procurements and U.S.-provided commodities; prepare workplans, status reports, analytical papers, and evaluations; and supervise one to three locally employed staff. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold at least a bachelor's degree, and meet specified law enforcement, management, international development, overseas, writing, training, and hardship-posting experience requirements. A Department of State Secret clearance, medical clearance, and ethics clearance are required or must be obtainable; a Top Secret upgrade may be required. The contract is for 12 months from award with four optional one-year extensions.
