Description
The Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance is offering discretionary grants under the Assisting Neighborhoods and Governments with Enforcement of Laws (ANGEL) program. Eligible state agencies with law enforcement responsibilities, local governments, and federally recognized tribal governments may request funding for activities that identify, disrupt, and prevent violent crime through coordinated, intelligence-led law enforcement operations, including significant participation in Homeland Security Task Force activities and related efforts addressing gangs, cartels, and other violent crime. Allowable costs include hiring or rehiring full-time sworn officers, deputies, and civilian personnel; hiring, retaining, and training forensic, investigative, analytical, prosecution, and legal-support personnel; and purchasing, implementing, subscribing to, training on, and maintaining surveillance, intelligence, investigative, forensic, analytical, officer-safety, and tactical technology and equipment. Salaries may be supported for up to three years within a five-year period of performance. Funding may not be used for co-responders, interpreters, or translators. The award ceiling is $500,000, with no cost sharing or matching requirement stated.
