Description
NYC Health + Hospitals is soliciting proposals from law firms specializing in the defense of complex and high-exposure medical malpractice claims. Selected firms may provide major defense services from notice of claim through trial and final disposition, or specialty counsel services in healthcare law, insurance, hospital regulatory affairs, appellate practice, and specialized medical malpractice trial work. The scope also includes regulatory advice, risk-management and quality-assurance support, consultation with general counsel, hospital risk-manager assistance, in-service lectures, and compliance with the system’s defense counsel guidelines and claims procedures. The solicitation contemplates multiple awards, with no guaranteed volume or exclusivity. Proposers may seek consideration for either or both contract categories and must demonstrate relevant experience, qualified licensed attorneys, financial capacity, references, organizational information, and past performance. Required responses include questionnaires, a substantive proposal limited to 15 pages excluding attachments, a cost proposal with hourly rates for 2027–2032, references, a standard invoice, security checklist, and specified corporate and financial documentation. The initial contract term is four years with two one-year renewal options; selected firms must maintain at least $5 million in professional liability insurance naming NYC Health + Hospitals and the City of New York as additional insureds and execute applicable business-associate, data-security, cloud-services, and artificial-intelligence agreements.
