Description
The Clayton County Water Authority intends to award Birds Georgia a sole-source contract for approximately three acres of native habitat improvements within a roughly 30-acre disc golf course site at Huie Nature Preserve. The work includes selective invasive vegetation removal using manual, mechanical, and targeted herbicide methods; development of a vegetation survey and treatment plan; follow-up and final treatments; installation of native seed, plugs, shrubs, grasses, forbs, and woody stakes; and operations and maintenance recommendations. The contractor must also prepare brief project memoranda, support educational signage for 18 disc golf holes with information about native birds, plants, and habitats, and comply with applicable regulations protecting wetlands, riparian areas, water-quality buffers, and the drinking-water watershed. Required qualifications include specified Georgia pesticide, applicator, prescribed-fire, chainsaw-safety, plant, and bird-habitat credentials, along with three similar-project references from the past five years, including at least one grant-funded project. The available budget is $170,000, and work must be completed by December 1, 2027.
