Description
The project will replace approximately 30 miles of aging 34.5kV and 4.8kV underground cable, along with associated equipment, within existing conduit systems and substructures. The work is intended to replace infrastructure that is past its service life and at risk of failure, increase energy-flow capacity without increasing generation capacity, and reduce vulnerability to heatwaves and storms. The project will be carried out over five years at various locations within the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power territory. The California Energy Commission determined the project categorically exempt under California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15302, because it involves replacement of existing utility facilities with substantially the same purpose and capacity.
