Description
The City of El Paso is seeking a qualified vendor to transport one adult leopard from Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, New Jersey, to the El Paso Zoo in El Paso, Texas. Pickup must occur between November 15 and November 30, 2026, and no later than November 30. The contractor must prioritize animal welfare and provide an animal transport plan to the receiving zoo in advance for review and agreement. A shipping crate will most likely be provided by the departure zoo; if not, the receiving zoo may have a suitable large-cat metal crate available. The transporter must have appropriate staff, experience, insurance, driving licenses, registered and inspected vehicles, logistical capability, and all required federal and state licenses and permits. A USDA Class T or H registration must be submitted with the bid. The scope may involve ground and/or air transport, suitable crates, compliance with applicable animal-transport regulations, and timely transportation, receiving, handling, and delivery records. Contract expenditures may not exceed $49,999.99 per annum or $100,000 in aggregate for multiple years; the contract term is six months from the contractor's receipt of written notice of award.
