Description
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is seeking a pre-qualified architectural and engineering consultant to serve as the Prime Consultant and Managing Consultant for planning the redevelopment of vacated former kitchen space at Vancouver General Hospital into a high-acuity inpatient unit supporting first-in-human clinical trials and patients receiving complex investigational treatments. The consultant will lead a coordinated schematic design process, incorporating clinical and functional planning information provided by the Authority as it becomes available. Required disciplines include architecture and healthcare planning, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering (including data and communications), and structural engineering; additional specialist subconsultants may be proposed at the consultant’s discretion, and any excluded services or disciplines must be identified. The work includes reviewing available information, investigating existing conditions, assessing capacity and developing test fits, preparing up to three pre-schematic design options, advancing the endorsed option to schematic design, supporting an Owner-retained quantity surveyor’s Class C cost estimate, preparing a preliminary implementation schedule, and producing a final schematic design report. The consultant must provide editable source files and PDF copies of its deliverables. The project budget has not been established. The actual start date will be the RFP award date; target deliverables extend through March 2027. The RFP closing date was extended to October 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time. Only architectural firms prequalified by the Authority for acute-care projects over $1 million may respond, and proposed mechanical, electrical, and structural subconsultants should be on the Authority’s prequalified engineer list.
