Description
Beaufort County is soliciting sealed bids from qualified and licensed contractors for the renovation and conversion of approximately 2,500 square feet of existing multipurpose/gymnasium space within the Beaufort County Detention Center into a secure, dormitory-style inmate housing unit. The work includes construction of a new shower/restroom facility; architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communications, and security improvements; removal and reinstallation of approximately 40 inmate beds; relocation of bunk beds and a ceiling-mounted basketball backstop; dust containment and monitoring; and coordination with detention-center operations. Contractor personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and other individuals requiring site access must complete criminal background investigations, fingerprinting, and facility approval before entry. Bidders must hold applicable South Carolina contractor licenses and demonstrate relevant renovation experience in occupied governmental, correctional, institutional, or secure facilities. The project requires a 5% bid bond and 100% performance and payment bonds, with bids submitted electronically through the Procurement Portal. The contractor must complete the work within 240 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed.
