Description
Dakota County Library is seeking qualifications from Minnesota artists to design, create, and install a permanent outdoor sculpture on the north lawn of Burnhaven Library. The artwork should enhance the outdoor space, welcome visitors, reflect the Burnsville and Dakota County communities, and remain durable for at least 25 years under Minnesota weather conditions, including snow, rain, and salt. The artist must provide a mounting mechanism; the library will fund and install the concrete footing separately. The two-step process requires an initial letter of intent, followed by a full proposal from selected finalists. The initial submission must include contact information, two project references, a resume, up to 10 JPEG work samples, and a statement of interest. Finalists must submit a proposal with visual concepts, a community engagement plan, project schedule, budget, materials, installation approach, durability and maintenance information, and all project fees. The total project budget is $25,000, and selected finalists will receive a $400 proposal-development stipend.
