Description
The Maine Department of Transportation is soliciting construction bids for replacement of Smith Brook Bridge No. 3189 on Bancroft Road in Bancroft Township, Aroostook County. The project includes a 90-foot single-span steel girder bridge on integral abutments supported by steel H-piles, removal of the existing bridge or culvert, roadway reconstruction and hot-mix asphalt paving, approach slabs, structural concrete, reinforcing steel, guardrails, riprap and streambed features, erosion and sediment controls, utility coordination, and temporary traffic control. The work also includes an on-site temporary detour bridge, temporary traffic signals with alternating one-way traffic, cofferdams and in-water work, streambed special fill, void-filled heavy riprap, and environmental protection measures for Smith Brook and surrounding wetlands. The contract completion date is August 18, 2028. Federal-aid requirements apply, including a completed DBE Bidder's List Form and DBE utilization documentation; the project-specific DBE Project Attainment Target is 0 percent and is not a mandate.
