The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) intends to procure the Chaboya Yard Zero-Emission Bus (ZEB) Charging Infrastructure Project using the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) project delivery method. This approach involves selecting a qualified, California-licensed General Contractor to collaborate with VTA's design consultant, providing pre-construction services during the development of the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E). Following the pre-construction phase, the selected contractor will have the opportunity to perform the construction phase of the Project, subject to the terms and conditions of the procurement. The project involves significant site modifications for battery electric bus (BEB) charging infrastructure, including grading, drainage, and paving. Structural work includes foundations and a canopy to support overhead pantograph chargers and future solar panels. Electrical infrastructure will support a 21kV primary service, transformers, switchboards, BEB chargers, and pantograph dispensers, designed to be scalable for future phases and solar integration. Communication infrastructure for a charging management system (CMS) is also included, integrating with VTA's existing network. The project is currently at the 35% preliminary design stage, with select components advancing to the 65% PS&E level. Preliminary design documents are available for reference.
