Description
The Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) is soliciting bids for the replacement of Bridge 158.7, located at Mile Post 158.7 over Cottonwood Creek in Wasilla, Alaska. This project involves the complete removal of the existing six-span timber bridge supported by seven timber pile bents. The new structure will consist of two 28-foot concrete ballast deck beam spans, two sheet pile abutments, and reinforced concrete substructure elements, including two abutment caps supported by two rows of three piles each, and one mid-span bent cap supported by three piles, for a total of fifteen driven steel pipe piles and three reinforced concrete caps. The scope of work includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary for the construction. This encompasses the removal and disposal of the existing superstructure and substructure, installation of the new bridge substructure and superstructure, installation of riprap at the abutments, and the construction, maintenance, and removal of temporary access pads and structures. ARRC will supply track materials, including bridge spans, pre-cast concrete caps, ties, and track jewelry. The project also requires adherence to prevailing wage rates as determined by the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and compliance with various federal regulations including those from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regarding safety, drug and alcohol testing, and Buy America provisions.
