Description
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is soliciting bids for 450,000 pounds of fresh sweet potatoes for further processing and canning. The potatoes must be first quality, free from cold injury, soft rot, disease, and bruises; measure approximately 2 to 3.25 inches in diameter; and come from the 2026 harvest crop. Vendors must identify the country of origin and provide products meeting applicable USDA, North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and FDA standards. The goods must be shipped in bulk trailer loads of approximately 45,000 pounds each, using a trailer equipped with a conveyor belt, walking floor, or dump capability. The contract anticipates 10 deliveries beginning in September 2026, with delivery dates coordinated after award. Bids will be evaluated primarily on responsiveness, product compliance, responsibility, and price, with the State generally intending to award all line items to one vendor but reserving the right to make multiple awards.
