Description
The Buffalo Urban Development Corporation is requesting proposals from experienced design, planning, and engineering firms for Phase 2 of a temporary tactical placemaking and intersection redesign initiative. The selected consultant will develop and coordinate low-cost, creative, sustainable, reusable, or adaptable improvements at approximately one to two public spaces, intersections, or rights-of-way in Buffalo’s Downtown and Waterfront Area. Potential interventions include wayfinding, traffic calming, asphalt art, public art, lighting, pedestrian improvements, seating, planters, bollards, signage, and other temporary treatments that improve safety, walkability, multimodal connectivity, physical activity, and public-realm vibrancy. The scope includes project planning and stakeholder coordination; site analysis; conceptual design and refinement; permitting and approvals; materials and procurement planning; implementation and installation planning or support; community outreach; and monitoring, data collection, and evaluation. Proposals must include a cover letter, firm and project-team profile, organizational chart, key-personnel resumes, at least three client references from the past three years, an approach and methodology narrative, a proposed budget by phase and task, and completed Forms 1 and Attachments A–C. The anticipated budget is approximately $150,000–$175,000, with installation targeted for completion by June 30, 2027.
