The City of Atlanta is soliciting proposals from a qualified consultant to develop a comprehensive 15-year Urban Forest Master Plan covering urban forest protection, management, expansion, and equitable access to trees and nature. The work includes assessing tree canopy condition and distribution, natural areas, tree risk, technology, staffing and resource needs, funding mechanisms, city codes and standards, planting priorities, wood reuse opportunities, and coordination among public and private landowners. The plan must establish actionable goals, policies, benchmarks, implementation timelines, responsible parties, funding strategies, and performance measures through 2042. The consultant will lead extensive engagement, including a public survey available for at least 180 days in English, Spanish, and additional identified languages; six in-person public meetings; presentations to 25 Neighborhood Planning Units; coordination with 35–45 neighborhood ambassadors; at least four in-person focus-group workshops; at least three Urban Forest Advisory Group meetings; at least 15 stakeholder interviews; and meetings with project committees. Deliverables include engagement materials and reports, progress reports, data analyses, infographics, a publishable public-facing plan, a City Council presentation, a PDF and editable version of the final plan, 25 printed and bound copies, and electronic project files, models, maps, and layouts. The work is expected to begin in Spring 2027 and must be completed by April 30, 2029.
