NASA's Technology Transfer Program is soliciting inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a new technology called Anonymous Feature Processing (AFP). Developed by innovators at NASA Johnson Space Center, AFP is an algorithmic and computational approach to vision-based feature recognition that eliminates the need for explicit correspondence between visual observations and cataloged map data. This reduces costs and risks associated with identification procedures, improves system robustness, and lowers algorithmic and software development costs. The technology requires only a simple camera or LIDAR sensor and a flight computer to track multiple targets and navigate vehicles more quickly, reliably, and safely. It is adaptable to various sensor types and platforms and could support space exploration and terrestrial navigation in low visibility or cluttered environments. Potential commercial applications include autonomous vehicles, manufacturing, and research-based imaging. NASA provides no funding in conjunction with these potential licenses. Interested parties should submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS) at the provided URL.
