Description
Virginia Railway Express is soliciting a firm-fixed-unit-price construction contract to modernize the existing east passenger elevator at Woodbridge Station. The elevator serves five floors and the work includes mobilization, demolition as necessary, modernization of the hoistway and pit, machine room and machinery spaces, electrical service, standby power, door operation and protection, car enclosure, signal fixtures, operational and motor controls, firefighters’ service components, hydraulic pump unit, sill supports, and hoistway door unlocking devices. The elevator is a 3,500-pound-capacity, 125-fpm hydraulic passenger elevator with five stops, subject to field verification of certain existing conditions. Bidders must submit pricing for mobilization, elevator modernization, and a $150,000 allowance for unforeseen elevator conditions. The work includes applicable federal transit, Buy America/Build America, Davis-Bacon, safety, security, accessibility, permitting, bonding, insurance, and railroad-facility requirements. The selected contractor must substantially complete the work within 180 consecutive calendar days after the Notice to Proceed and must provide a one-year warranty maintenance period with 24-hour emergency callback service.
