Description
The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is soliciting proposals for a statewide dental services program. This program aims to provide access to medically necessary dental care for individuals with developmental disabilities through a comprehensive provider network, acting as the payor of last resort. The contract is anticipated to be for five years, with the option for one additional five-year renewal. The agency has allocated $3.6 million for this initiative. The selected non-profit organization will be responsible for administering and coordinating the program, including managing provider networks, authorizing treatments, and ensuring timely access to care across all APD regions in Florida. Key services include preventive, diagnostic, restorative, endodontic, periodontal, surgical procedures, extractions, and orthodontics not for cosmetic purposes, as well as denture-related services. The program will also coordinate transportation if necessary and connect individuals to dental services through various communication methods, including a website and an electronic application process. A robust management information system with strong data security and disaster recovery plans will be required. The selected organization must also adhere to strict quality assurance measures, performance metrics, and reporting requirements.
