Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital (JAHVH), intends to award a sole source procurement for a high-fidelity ophthalmic surgical simulation system. This system is designed to support cataract and vitreoretinal surgical training, incorporating validated performance metrics and haptic feedback to align with current patient safety and competency-based training standards. The required system must provide realistic microsurgical visualization and tissue interaction modeling, integrated haptic handpieces that replicate intraocular resistance, structured multi-level training pathways, and real-time performance scoring with longitudinal trainee tracking. It will include a self-contained workstation with installed software, components, and on-site training, while complying with all safety, electrical, and facility environmental requirements. While this notice is not a solicitation, vendors who believe they can provide a system meeting or exceeding these requirements are encouraged to submit supporting documentation demonstrating their capabilities. Submissions must be received via email by June 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST.
