Description
The City of Claremont is soliciting proposals for the Fiske Free Library Roof Replacement Project. This project involves replacing the existing slate and asphalt shingle roof with synthetic slate on the street-facing planes and architectural asphalt shingles on the rear planes. All work must adhere to historic preservation standards, including the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, due to the library's status as a historical building within Claremont's Downtown Historic District. The scope of work includes assessment and documentation of the existing roof structure, site and building protection, removal and disposal of existing materials, preparation and repair of the decking, chimney, and skylight, and the installation of new roofing systems. The primary proposal should be for a synthetic slate roof on the street-facing planes and architectural asphalt shingles on the rear planes, with copper accents. Proposals must detail company qualifications, project understanding, work plan, key personnel, project experience, and cost. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, waive irregularities, and award based on best value.
