NASA's Technology Transfer Program is soliciting inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a handheld digital microscope developed at NASA Johnson Space Center. The microscope is a self-contained device that includes optics, illumination, high-resolution imaging hardware, a wireless-enabled single board computer, and a rechargeable battery. It can act as an internet access point and connects via Bluetooth to smart devices for wireless image transfer and remote control. The technology is at Technology Readiness Level 8 and is currently used aboard the International Space Station. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis and may include specific fields of use. NASA provides no funding in conjunction with these potential licenses. Interested parties must submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS).
