Description
Chautauqua County's 3% Occupancy Tax Tourism Product Development Grant Program supports project-based initiatives that strengthen tourism offerings, attract visitors from outside the county, encourage overnight stays, and increase tourism impact. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, public or private schools, governmental agencies, businesses and corporations, and property owners within Chautauqua County. Eligible activities include placemaking and attraction development; tourism-focused marketing; new or significantly enhanced events; event planning and feasibility studies; destination planning, design and management; and visitor-experience improvements. Routine maintenance, general operating expenses, ordinary business expansion, and projects primarily serving local residents are generally ineligible. FY 2027 awards are capped at $15,000 for Placemaking and Attraction Development and $10,000 for Marketing and Event Development. A 1:1 match is required, with at least 50% of the match provided in cash. Applications are submitted through an online Google Forms application and must include a project budget identifying funding sources. Awardees must enter into an agreement with the County and provide a summary report documenting project accomplishments, measurable results, expenditures, matching funds, supporting records, and relevant plans, marketing materials, studies, and photographs.
