The Indian Health Service’s White River Service Unit is conducting market research for Indian Small Business Economic Enterprises capable of transporting human remains for autopsies. The contractor would accept dispatches from authorized personnel, pick up remains within five hours, transport them directly to the designated medical examiner’s office, and, after authorized release, deliver them to the family-selected funeral home or mortuary within 24 hours of autopsy completion. Post-autopsy repair work is also required as needed. Drivers must be licensed to drive in Arizona and employed by an entity legally authorized to transport human remains in the state; a licensed, certified mortician is preferred. Respondents are asked to provide a capability statement covering relevant experience, licenses and authorizations, ability to meet the response times, geographic coverage, dispatch availability, personnel, vehicles, equipment, repair capability, and anticipated subcontracting arrangements or performance limitations. A completed IHS Indian Economic Enterprise Representation form is also requested. This is a sources-sought notice, not a solicitation or request for pricing; the reported 42 autopsies in 2026 are historical workload information and do not guarantee future volume.
