Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a qualified member of specified Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units to conduct research and monitoring of aquatic fauna production and periphyton primary production in support of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. Work includes aquatic-fauna sampling in Water Conservation Areas and Everglades National Park, periphyton sampling during wet and dry seasons, data analysis, statistical modeling, participation in RECOVER meetings and workshops, and preparation of annual, final, and other task-specific reports and data files. The principal investigator and supporting personnel must have relevant doctoral-level expertise, direct Everglades research experience, experience with aquatic-fauna and periphyton sampling in southeastern seasonal wetlands, knowledge of hydrologic and environmental analysis, and familiarity with Generalized Random-Tessellation Stratified sampling. The recipient must possess or obtain applicable research permits. The base period is 12 months, with up to four additional 12-month follow-on periods; optional tasks may expand the geographic and temporal scope of monitoring and add restoration-effect, system-status, performance-measure, and monitoring-plan analyses. A Statement of Interest of no more than two or three single-spaced pages is requested initially; a full proposal and budget are not requested at this stage.
