The University of Virginia is conducting a two-step Invitation for Bids procurement to pre-qualify construction firms for full construction services for a new data center at Fontaine Research Park. Firms must demonstrate comparable experience in complex project settings, including work near neighboring patient-care facilities. Pre-qualified firms will subsequently receive an Invitation for Bids with 100% construction documents, and the contract will be awarded through competitive sealed bidding. The proposed three-story facility will be approximately 50,000 square feet and will support academic research high-performance computing and UVA Health Information Technology. Initial capacity is planned at 4 MW for research computing and 500 mW for health information technology, with future expansion to 17 MW. The submission includes the HECO-16 Standard Form for Contractors Statement of Qualifications and is accepted only by paper response.
