Description
The City of Hayward is soliciting sealed bids for construction of the South Hayward Safe Routes for Seniors Project. The work includes removing and replacing approximately 4,710 square feet of concrete sidewalk, curb ramps, curb, and gutter; installing concrete bulb-outs, median curbs, detectable warning surfaces, storm drainage improvements, landscaping, street lighting, traffic signal modifications, and a solar-powered rectangular rapid flashing beacon system; and completing thermoplastic striping, pavement markings, green bike-lane coloring, red curb painting, sign relocation, traffic control, utility adjustments, and related demolition and restoration. The engineer's estimated construction cost is $1,300,000. The contractor must hold a Class A license or an eligible combination of California license classifications, be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations, perform at least 50% of the original contract work with its own organization subject to stated exceptions, and provide a bid security equal to at least 10% of the bid. The successful bidder must furnish labor and materials and performance bonds, each generally at 110% of the bid amount, and comply with the applicable Community Workforce Agreement, prevailing-wage, local-hire, apprenticeship, traffic-control, recycling, insurance, and subcontractor-listing requirements.
