Description
Peoria County is soliciting bids for asbestos abatement and demolition of buildings at the former Hanna City Work Camp. The scope includes utility disconnections, removal of specified site features, lawful debris disposal, and grading and seeding of disturbed areas. The revised bid form requests pricing by building for abatement and demolition, plus unit prices for asphalt, utility pole, and hydrant removal. The environmental report identifies asbestos-containing materials in several buildings and notes that contractors must field-verify quantities; some buildings and materials tested had no asbestos detected. The County will award buildings in the order listed on the bid form, subject to bid responses and available budget. The contractor must obtain demolition permits and pay associated fees. Demolition must be completed within 120 calendar days after demolition begins; abatement is excluded from that period. Weather-related extensions require notice to the County, and late completion may incur liquidated damages of $250 per calendar day.
