Description
The Maryland Transit Administration is soliciting construction services to install pathways and new fiber optic cable connecting Hamburg Station, the North Avenue Maintenance Facility, instrument houses, traction power substations, station equipment cabinets, and the Operations Control Center. The work is intended to replace an existing 84-strand fiber optic cable that has reached the end of its service life while preserving the existing cable for backup use. The contractor must splice drop cables into an existing aerial 144-strand fiber optic cable installed on catenaries, route the drop cables through pathways to the designated facilities, terminate the strands, and perform end-to-end strand testing. Reconfiguration of existing fiber and equipment is excluded from the contract. The project cost class is $1,000,000 to $2,500,000, and no small-business reserve designation is indicated.
