Description
Toronto Metropolitan University is procuring construction services for a new outdoor, self-contained, 200 kW natural-gas emergency generator with a 250 kW upsized alternator on the roof of the VCT Building. The work includes generator delivery and crane hoisting, a new gas service station and high-pressure gas piping, pressure-reducing valves, emergency power distribution equipment, automatic transfer switches, transformers, panels, feeders, a load-bank connection cabinet, fire-alarm and sprinkler-system interfaces, testing, commissioning, and coordination with the gas utility and authorities having jurisdiction. The scope also includes structural engineering and a roof-mounted steel support structure, access platform, guardrails, civil excavation and restoration, scaffolding, core drilling, firestopping, permits, shutdown coordination, safety planning, and project closeout documentation. The contract term is approximately 12 months or until project completion, followed by the warranty period; substantial performance is expected by March 2027. The generator specification requires a manufacturer-authorized installer and a five-year comprehensive manufacturer warranty, while the pricing documents require two years of generator warranty coverage and one year for mechanical and electrical work.
