Description
The Medical Readiness Contracting Office - W, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is conducting market research to identify potential sources for the provision of scleral contact lenses. These specialty lenses are required to support the Optometry clinic at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) for patients with unique vision correction needs that cannot be met by standard contact lenses. The scleral contact lenses must be custom-fitted to each patient's eye, resting on the sclera and vaulting over the cornea. They should include a fluid reservoir for saline solution, be made of high oxygen permeable RGP material, and be designed for durability (1-3 years). The lenses must correct vision for near and far distances, accommodate complex prescriptions, and be compatible with standard cleaning and wearing solutions. Patient comfort and safety are paramount, adhering to medical-grade standards (DS/EN ISO 13485).
