Description
The U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaii Cooperative Fishery Research Unit is purchasing one underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and one unmanned surface vessel (USV) to support fishery-resource and habitat research. The ROV must be rated to at least 300 meters, support six-degree-of-freedom maneuvering, include a 200-meter tether, high-output lighting, stereo imaging, a dedicated navigation camera, sonar integration, and customizable control software. The USV must be portable and suitable for single-person deployment, carry scientific payloads, provide at least 18 hours of endurance, support wireless and backup telemetry, include a navigation camera and scientific I/O, and integrate sonar and environmental-monitoring payloads. The two platforms must use interchangeable battery modules and shared charging infrastructure, a unified open or non-proprietary control interface, at least 1 TB of removable storage, real-time HD video, and open data formats. The solicitation identifies Blue Robotics BlueROV2 and BlueBoat as brand-name-or-equal references. The purchase includes one unit of each vehicle, with technical compliance and price as the evaluation factors.
