Description
The City seeks a qualified law firm to serve as its contractual City Attorney and provide a full range of municipal legal services. The scope includes advising and representing the City Council, officers, staff, boards, and commissions; attending meetings; preparing and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other legal documents; providing legal training and updates; and handling claims, litigation preparation, and coordination with outside legal specialists as directed. The City may retain separate counsel for particular matters. Proposals must describe the firm’s qualifications, proposed attorney and backup staffing, availability and response systems, relevant experience, conflicts, approach, references, and pricing. A separate cost proposal is required. The solicitation also requests proof of insurance and a business license, but states that insurance evidence and the business license are required before work begins or before award/commencement, rather than as proposal-time submissions. The selected firm will enter into a negotiated legal services agreement; the agreement’s start date will be set upon agreement of its terms.
