Description
Polk County is seeking Iowa-credentialed radon mitigation specialists to join a pre-qualified pool for its Radon Test & Fix Pilot. Contractors will perform diagnostic visits, propose scopes and prices, install active mitigation systems in assigned single-family and duplex homes, educate homeowners, provide operating instructions and warranties, submit installation documentation, and conduct post-mitigation testing. Contractors must address systems that fail testing, including adjustments or repairs and retesting. The County expects up to 400 installations between January 2027 and June 2028, but volume is not guaranteed and depends on resident demand and funding. Proposers must have at least two years of residential radon mitigation experience in Iowa, maintain the required Iowa credential, and provide fixed unit pricing. Optional work includes activating passive systems in new construction and potential future assessments or mitigation in multifamily housing. Proposals must include the requested qualifications, experience and references, approach and capacity, warranties, pricing, required forms, and quality assurance and worker protection plans. The contract has an initial term through June 30, 2028, with up to two one-year renewals by mutual agreement and subject to available funding.
