Description
The City of Spartanburg seeks a contractor to remove asbestos materials before demolishing a single-family residence at 717 Hayne Street. The work includes sewer abandonment, removal and disposal of building materials and debris, clearing the lot, filling and grading, and seeding and strawing the site. The contractor must comply with applicable asbestos, lead, demolition, disposal, and permitting requirements; coordinate utility disconnections and air monitoring; and complete the work within 30 days of assignment. The asbestos and lead assessment identifies roof mastic containing 4% chrysotile and lead-based paint on several surfaces. The assessment cautions that its quantities are estimates and that it is not an abatement specification. The proposal requires two copies of the complete bid package, including completed pricing and contractor information tables and signed exhibits. The City will evaluate bids using price and other factors, including experience, references, licenses, insurance, equipment, and financial stability. The demolition itself may not be subcontracted, although subcontractors may perform other portions of the work. A City business license is required for the awarded vendor and its subcontractors; the license copy is required for the agreement and file, not identified as a bid-time submission item.
