The National Park Service is soliciting offers for a 10-year concession contract to operate guided horseback rides, wagon and/or carriage rides, vending, firewood and ice, camper convenience items, souvenirs, and souvenir photography at Smokemont Riding Stables within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The opportunity includes minimum 1-hour, 2.5-hour, and 4-hour guided horseback rides, horse-drawn wagon and carriage rides, and related visitor-convenience and retail services. The concessioner will also be responsible for maintaining assigned trails and facilities and complying with applicable National Park Service standards and regulations. Amendment 1 states that the estimated initial investment is $488,800, including horses and tack; confirms that rates will use the Competitive Market Declaration method; and clarifies that no preferred offeror exists because this is not a qualified concession contract. The amendment also provides responses concerning pasture access and barn modifications.
