The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is soliciting a general contractor to renovate approximately 3,500 square feet of first-floor clinical space in Building 47 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. The work covers ENT and Podiatry areas and includes demolition; partitions, doors, ceilings, flooring, finishes, casework, countertops, signage, and wall protection; new waiting and exam areas; increased storage; and restoration of adjacent occupied spaces. The multidisciplinary scope includes HVAC demolition and installation of variable air volume units, ductwork, controls, testing, adjusting, balancing, and commissioning; electrical panels, wiring, lighting, and controls; plumbing fixtures and piping; sprinkler and fire-alarm modifications and testing; asbestos abatement; structured cabling, nurse call, access control, and security-camera work; and associated submittals, safety plans, commissioning documentation, operation and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, photographic documentation, and warranty deliverables. The facility remains operational 24/7, requiring phasing, continuous utility service, dust and noise control, access control, and coordination with patient-care operations. Estimated construction duration is 183 days. The solicitation is a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business set-aside, and the bid guarantee is 100% of the bid price or $3 million, whichever is less.
