Description
The Montana Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for Category 1 corrosion-inhibited liquid magnesium chloride deicer. The awarded vendor must provide and deliver the product to numerous Montana Department of Transportation maintenance, division, stockpile, and storage locations, as well as storage sites operated by the cities of Missoula and Billings. The listed estimated quantities total approximately 30,000 tons, although the solicitation states that quantities are estimates and are not guaranteed. The product must contain at least 25% magnesium chloride, meet specified pH, settleable-solids, sieve-passing, constituent, corrosion-inhibition, and environmental requirements, and be listed on the CLEARROADS Qualified Products List by bid opening. Bidders must provide product specifications, Safety Data Sheets, bidder and product information, pricing for multiple delivery schedules and locations, and trucking-origin mileage. Delivery requires appropriate unloading equipment, advance notice, current SDS documentation, and compliant bills of lading. The resulting purchase order has an initial term through December 1, 2027, with possible one-year extensions up to a maximum total term of three years.
