Lincoln Electric System (LES) is soliciting bids for the furnishing and installation of a security fence at their 40th & Gertie Substation, located at 4801 S 40th St, Lincoln, NE. The project involves installing approximately 326 feet of 7-foot high chain-link fence with 1 foot of barbed wire, a single swing gate to fit a 4-foot opening, and removing 310 feet of existing chain-link fence. The fence fabric should be 2-inch mesh, 9-gauge steel, with a knuckle selvage at the bottom and a twist selvage at the top, and must be either hot-dipped galvanized or aluminized. Steel fence framework components, including posts, rails, and fittings, must meet specific ASTM standards for galvanized pipe and pressed steel. Three rows of barbed wire are required, complying with ASTM A121 standards. Concrete for post footings must have a minimum 28-day compressive strength of 2,500 psi. Installation requires posts to be set plumb in concrete footings according to ASTM F567, with specified minimum footing sizes for different post types. The fence fabric is to be installed on the outside of the framework, stretched taut, and secured to posts and rails. Gates must be plumb, have a bottom clearance of 6 inches from grade (or 2 inches from rock), and include stops to prevent liftoff. All welded joints on gates must be protected with zinc-rich paint. The contractor is responsible for maintaining substation security at all times and for any temporary fencing needed. Site cleanup is also required. The fence work is to be completed by August 28th, 2026.
