Description
The Texas Military Department (TMD) is soliciting bids for the preparation and construction of two concrete pads at the Texas Challenge Academy, located at 600 Highway 3013 West, Eagle Lake, Texas 77434. The scope of work includes site preparation, such as removing grass and soil up to six inches deep, and furnishing and placing three inches of gravel beneath the slab areas, compacted to provide a stable foundation. Forms will be constructed using two-inch by six-inch or two-inch by eight-inch wood boards as required, and saw-cut control joints and expansion joints will be installed according to standard concrete construction practices. All concrete surfaces will receive a standard broom finish unless otherwise directed. Reinforcing steel will be properly supported during concrete pours. Concrete Pad #1 will measure 24 feet by 26 feet with a six-inch thickness and 5000 PSI concrete strength, reinforced with #4 rebar spaced at 14 inches on center each direction. Concrete Pad #2 will measure 24 feet by 70 feet with an eight-inch thickness, 5000 PSI concrete strength, reinforced with #4 rebar spaced at 14 inches on center each direction. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, insurance, tools, equipment, materials, permits, and transportation necessary for the project. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST, with prior written approval required for work outside these hours. A site-specific safety plan and full-time on-site supervision are mandatory. Respondents must also attend one of two mandatory site visits on June 15 or June 16, 2026, and submit references for similar projects performed within the last five years.
