Description

Escambia County is soliciting bids for Phase 1 of the Century Community Shelter Project, consisting of selective demolition and site preparation for a future emergency and multipurpose shelter. The contractor must demolish designated portions of the existing gymnasium, remove the gymnasium floor, locker rooms, interior partitions, finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, clear and grub the site, remove above-ground and below-ground improvements, and reduce the remaining structure to the designated structural shell. The contractor must also protect and salvage the existing gymnasium mascot emblem for delivery to the County and remove and dispose of resulting debris. The work includes compliance with applicable federal, state, local, environmental, safety, licensing, insurance, and federally funded-project requirements. The hazardous-materials survey identified lead-based coatings at one exterior support component, assumed tritium exit signs, batteries, and mercury-containing fluorescent bulbs requiring proper handling and disposal; asbestos was not detected above one percent in the sampled materials. Phase II shelter construction will be procured separately. The contract requires substantial completion within 30 consecutive calendar days after the written Notice to Proceed and final completion within an additional 30 consecutive calendar days.
